Have a wee read
Have a wee read
The BIGGEST decision to be made in Scotland by the people in Scotland is only four days away!
Everywhere I go, I hear people talking, discussing and yes; even debating THE REFERENDUM.
I also hear a lot of
‘I’m sick of this bloody referendum! Can’t wait til it’s over and we can go back to watching TV/posting pictures of our dinners again.’
The other side of the coin is
‘I’m soo excited/nervous that I can’t sleep!’
Which in itself shows the difference of the supporters. 97% of Scotland has registered to vote. The HIGHEST number ever to be registered. It shows the level of belief that we, in Scotland, FINALLY have a Vote that actually matters. Even if that Vote returns a majority of No, then at least we got one chance to be counted. If that majority is Yes, it will be the first of many Votes where our voice is heard, instead of hidden in the many millions of England (same does apply to Wales and Northern Ireland, our three wee countries voices are drowned out by the large amount of Voters in England. For example, Scotland has one Tory MP, yet we have a Tories running the Government)
I hear many people saying nothing will change. I do not believe this to be true. I personally think if the outcome is Yes, I don’t see much changing within the first 5 years – other than our Passports and Drivers licences being changed over. The rest will muddle along the same as before until we have full control and agreement in our parliament.
whereas if the outcome is No, I fear that our audacity to even try to think for ourselves will be punished by those in Westminster, our further 70% austerity cuts will happen very soon, more and more powers will be taken away from the Scottish Executive – to continue to call it a parliament would be an embarrassment. Our NHS has no hope of being ‘ring-fence’ in the TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership). Our world-class Universities would lose out, Our school systems will lose out. The history books will be written about how a small mob of SNP voters tried to change the United Kingdom. When really it was a lot of Labour Voters who have done their research and realised Scottish Labour would work better for Scotland without the westminster Labour telling them what to do, It was the Scottish Green Voters who can see a way forward in Independence (No Trident for one!), it was the masses of ‘I’m not wasting my time Voting when what we Vote for makes no difference’. It was this last lot of non voters who have swelled our Voting numbers to 97% of the people in Scotland. It is these voters who have suddenly gotten very into politics, many in Scotland now know more about our financial history, political history, royal history, economic history than ever before. And this new knowledge is not going to go away. We know now more than ever that Labour are no different from the Conservatories. We know now that we are not thought highly of in our House of Lords and our Parliament. We know now that we are only wanted for our Oil and our revenues from whiskey and other revenues that are all classed as English revenues.
I truly hope that those going to the polling booth on Thursday take the time to go to the sources of information, dig around to find out the facts and the fiction (thanks BBC for making us do your job for you!) and I hope they Vote the way forward for Scotland.
“We cannot change Westminster – but we can stop enabling it.”
(Fair warning, this is the angriest post I think I’ve done. Just so you know…)
Alistair Darling came to Greenock today. The town of my birth, where I spend many of my days, which is as familiar to me as anything I can think of. He came here, to spread his message. He came here.
He came here with his big vans. “I love my family. I’m saying No Thanks.” “I love Scotland. I’m saying No Thanks.” We love our kids. We’re saying No Thanks.” You’d be hard-pressed to write a more implicitly chilling threat. “You love Scotland, don’t you? You love your family? Then you’ll vote No, won’t you? If you love Scotland, and you love your family, then you want what’s best for them. You don’t want to see harm come to them. You don’t want something… unpleasant to happen to them. So you’ll vote No. There’s a…

I lost track of the days, but Friday i ate pasta for dinner, Saturday i done the same 2 juices through the day, and pasta for dinner, sunday i had 3 juices spread out through the day and was felling extremely full around 6 pm,
Monday, I onlytook 2 juices to work, had a pepermint tea as well, my mum asked to meet me straight after work to go a walk, by 5.30 i was feeling rather famished. Ate a few strawberries on the way home after stopping into lidl to pick up some veg supplies. By time i got home around half 7 or 8 o’clock i was feeling starved. I grabbed the first thing i seen which was a chocolate cookie. then another. and a few mini rolls too. I actually felt rather dissapointed in myself. not because i have no will power, or that i was not following the ‘diet’ to the letter but because i was eating food that doesnt really taste like food should. i never had time to go weigh myself.
Tuesday I woke up nice and early, raring to go. My #JillianMichaels dvd doesnt work in the x-box. I bent down to pick up some veg that had dropped and i felt a twinge go in my lower back. It wasn’t painfull then, but it has been ever since (now thursday) I also had the dentist on Tuesday, think i have like another 3 teeth with problems 😦 also noted that i have a clicky jaw. I currently have an absece so grudgingly agreed to root treatment on the tooth they think is causing the problems. I think its the tooth behind it. Went and weighed myself with a girl from work. I am now down to 12 stone 6 lbs.
I lost 5lbs since the monday before!
Wednesday my back was still sore, i also had sore tender tooth where they had done a bit of the prep and clean out on my tooth. I made a minty sunshine without the mint for at work. and bought a detox special from the juice place in town. Had chilli and rice for dinner – on a side plate. bed early.
Today i have had a mini roll (why oh why do i do it. thay are not even nice to eat!!!) all because i didnt have enough time this morning to get everything done. Also a bottle of orange juice. not fresh orange juice, but bottled stuff. grr.
No 30 Day Shred has been done. I need to move the dvd player from the room to the living room. and hope my back gets better asap. I’m doing Pretty Mudder in 2 weeks!
And did I tell you, I signed up for Tough Mudder too!
I’ve decided to do the 5lb in 5 days challenge following Jason Vales book.
Day 1 – slept in!
My alarm switched off and my mobile fone did its ‘i’m charging so lets mess with her and switch off and flash but not switch back on until she reboots me’ thing. It’s really annoying!
And made the turbo juice. it needs 1/4 pineapple, i decided to instead use orange juice – and promptly forgot.
It tastes lovely. With a bit more tang than what i think it probably would have with the pineapple/orange juice.
My exercise of choice today is Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.
So far soo good.
I have to have the turbo twice and another juice twice today too as well as herbal teas and water, and emergency banana or avocado.
Lets see how tomorrow goes.
Yesterdays weigh in was better than expected. Last week i ate food i dont normally eat, and i done it twice! I ate at burger king. I had vouchers. so i made the monetary decision of we are in town for a few hours, we need to eat, i have these vouchers in my bag. £2 for a meal, i got one for me and mum one day and next day me and son. £8 on 4 meals. not bad for in the town eating.
On Sunday was a really bad day food wise. i had no fruits or veg in the house to make juices with. i ate cereal for breakfast. Ive been weaning myself off cereal for about a year now, i am mostly ok and only have a bowl once in a while. it was weetabix minis with chocolate. not the worst cereal to have.
we went to a family fun day for The Clan, picked up our supporters cards and bought some home baking.
The chocolate brownies where delicious. i ate 2 in the car without the kids noticing!
Then with dinner i had 3 glasses of wine which probably worked out at 1 large glass of wine. I pour mine like its a spirit and dilute it with 7up.
But all that with not as much walking as i should have/could have done ment that I
STAYED THE SAME
THIS WEEK I AIM TO DO BETTER
I went shopping yesterday and got a load of veggies and fruits. forgot to get cold meat for the boys school lunches.
Did pick up one of these lunch boxes, who am i kidding, i got 2! I did only pay £12 for them both though.
Wee Man has in his – garlic and herb wrap (13p) filled with goats cheese (10p); bottom layer, 1 peperami (50p) halved to fit in box on top layer, grapes (10p) and blueberries (10p) in one tub, cucumber (5p) in the other tub and a little cup of mango jelly (22p) and a tiny teeny spoon. (he also has a chocolate crossant (26p)for snack in his bag). Total – £1.46 for his lunch
He took the picture himself, in the back of the car, and was very annoyed that the car was making it all bumpy and not let him get a good shot.
In mine i got grapes (10p) in one tub, cucumber (5p) in the other, chinese leaf lettuce (15p) and a red pepper (25p). I didnt have time to cut the avocado (69p), nor peel the mandarins (60p for 10, think i will eat 3 or 4 today, so 24p) so they came in a bag to work. i have eaten all the lettuce, red pepper and cucumber for breakfast. Total £1.48
They look slightly different as i took out the divider on my side section to put in more lettuce, and i took out the tray in my middle section.
Prices are estimates, the purchase price divided by how many portions i think i will get from it and X by the amount i used.
£2.94 for 2 lunches and snacks. Compaired to £1.85 for school and £3 for work.
Not bad for a very last minute rush job. And on the cheap too!
so i signed up for instagram. need to figure it all out, but so far i have posted a few pics of crochet and a few of my weight.
I am using this #fattydtofitd to document for myself of my progress; good or bad.
Quick info for the #fattydtofitd
Now to try and link instagram to blog…
How many ‘sets’ do you buy?
I’ve left it really late to get my son his uniform. They go back on the 15th, so two weeks exactly today!
I need to get him to try on the trousers and shirts I bought near the end of last year and see if they still fit or if like, i suspect; he’s taken a growth spurt.
I’ve been thinking along the lines of 1 for each day of the week, but I don’t feel that clothes should be washed after every wear. (taking laundry into consideration – i wash most wednesdays and sundays for school clothes) Maybe 3 sets of polo shirts, jumpers and trousers, and also get single shirts in 2 or 3 sizes, as he needs to wear them only a handful of times throughout the year. May as well buy them whilst deals are on them.
Here is my list of essentails for school.
Now to find out the prices locally.
Quick estimate is £189. not including the tie or shirt as i have those. or the bag as i picked up a teenage mutant ninja turtle one around easter for £6 _________________________________________________________
And this is what i bought during my lunch break.
Still to get the shoes!
And I am genuinely scared.
My son asked last week what happens if we vote No? as we stand at the bus station after a brilliant week ‘down South’, Worcester to be precise. Where the sun shone, and people went to the pub every night. and the town was not only full of pound shops and charity shops, but a LOT of higher end high street shops.
My response; as a lot of the English Grey Haired Brigade (elderly waiting on the bus to the pay and ride place) listened in (as best as they can with our accents).
“Survive as best we can, as we have always done.”
But why should we just survive? Why can’t we as a nation thrive? Why can we not continue to spend our money on the values we believe in like free health care and free education for all? Why if over half of us vote No on 18th September, then have to lose these fundamentals to our lives that we are at this moment taking for granted?
Me as a full-time employed mother earns the princely sum of £16200 per year. £1350 per month. I get around £1100 in my bank each month. I pay £500 per month for my house as I am stuck on a high interest mortgage. If i was to be renting it is no cheaper and a lot of the times dearer.
Then add in Gas, Electricity, BBC Licence, Virgin (cheaper for me to have the tv and fone package than to just have the broadband, i would get rid of the other two if it saved me any money, but it doesn’t), life insurances, house insurances, car insurance, mobile fone.
On a good month i have £250 to spend on Food, Diesel, school lunches/clothes/trips/funds/charities(my order of school priorities), after school activities, childcare, birthdays, christmas, easter, clothes for both of us and if lucky a holiday too!
I try to save, but its hard when everything is needed paying and all at once – I save up to pay the car insurance and house insurances in one go so i don’t have to pay anything extra.
If I had to also pay for our health care, something else would have to give, but what?
If i had to save to be able to pay for my son to go to college or uni, then im sure the pot would be almost empty, as something would always need fixed or repaired or replaced.
When I go food shopping, I spend between £30 and £50 per week! for the 2 of us. We eat a lot of fruit and vegetables and that takes up the bulk of our shopping, it used to be dairy but now the reliance on goat’s milk/yogurt/cheese isn’t too big,now i buy; 1 litre of milk, 1 250g block of cheese, and 1 carton of natural yogurt. Those 3 items comes to approx £9. Buy midweek I need a top up of milk.
If the vote is No, what will happen to us? We have only had 10% of the cuts that Wales, Northern Ireland and England have had.
What westminster Government is going to cut most of the money due to a country that is in the process of drumming up support to leave?
